Jamie Speer
Genetic Counselor
Jamie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Cytogenetics from the University of Connecticut, and followed this with several years of experience
in the fields of chromosome analysis and DNA testing. He received his Master of Science degree from the Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling Program at
Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.
He was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling in 1996, and was recertified in 2005. He
is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
Jamie practiced as a genetic counselor at Bridgeport Hospital from 1993 to 2002,
specializing in prenatal and pediatric genetic counseling.
Jamie is currently the Associate Director of the Human Genetics Program at Sarah Lawrence College, where he teaches Advanced Human Genetics and Genetic
Counseling courses. He is available for consultations at Connecticut Fertility Associates two days per week.
Jamie Speer's specialty areas include
counseling for maternal age 35 and over, family history of genetic conditions and chromosome changes, recurrent pregnancy loss, genetic screening, male
factor infertility, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and prenatal testing options.
